Training

Time out is a very important topic for special educators. We hear about and use it and know there are new requirements from ISBE about using time out. BUT…do we know how to effectively implement time-out and isolated time-out procedures? We have dedicated an entire training to the topic of time-out due to the training requirements of PA 102-0339, and this training helps to define the practice of time-out. This module reviews the basics of time out, is intended to confirm or deepen your knowledge, and provides information on best practices in using time out.

As a result of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Define time out and isolated time out
  • Recognize the ISBE regulations regarding the use of time out/isolated time out
  • Identify why and when to use time out/isolated time out
  • Identify the implementation steps for time out/isolated time out
